Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, condemned the attack on a funeral parish in Borno State, leading to the death of more than 60 mourners.
Rebels at a retaliation mission attacked Badu town in the Nganzai Local Government area of Borno and killed more than 60 people and wounded 11 others.
Local government chairman Muhammad Bulama, who spoke about the incident on Sunday, said the insurgent had recently attacked the town of Badu, but they were watched by residents and members of the group.
In response, Fani-Kayode mocked President Muhammadu Buhari’s government for claiming that Boko was “defeated” by Haram.
The former minister expressed grief over the level of uncertainty.
“Boko Haram killed 65 mourners at a funeral in Borno! Is this ‘technically defeated’ Boko Haram?
“The beggars believe Buhari can sleep well. He has no empathy for the victims and no sense of urgency about the free fall into which he has cast us in. I forgot words.”
