A middle-aged man was arrested for allegedly raping and killing a pregnant woman on February 28, 2019, in the village of Gangnim, Plateau State.
The suspect, Timrimg Napkur, attacked the woman, Zainab Abu, who was seven months pregnant, on the bank of a river where she was going with her two daughters to wash clothes.
State police commissioner Isaac Akinmoyede said Timrimg raped the victim, strangled her and pushed her into the river to drown and eventually died.
“The victim’s two daughters, 7-year-old Aije and 4-year-old Khadija, escaped and reported the crime to their father,” said the police commissioner. The suspect, in his response, said he regretted his action.
